June 4th, 2017: Donald Trump Derides London Mayor and Promotes Own Agenda After Tragic London Bridge Attack

President Trump once again shows absolutely no impulse control on Twitter.

It’s a shame that we’re becoming so desensitized to the violence

London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

perpetrated by the nutjobs out there on all sides. Of course, with “Radical Islamic Terrorism”, as our president so blatantly loves to say (Except when confronted by leaders of the Arab world, allegedly because “he was exhausted“), it seems to be an ongoing “red meat” item to throw out on Twitter to try and claim his assertion that his “travel ban” (His words, not mine) is the only way to keep those terrorists away from our beloved homeland.

In the wake of the senseless attacks in London on June 3rd, Trump wasted no time politicizing the tragedy to push his agenda. His Twitter feed in chronological order from the time the attacks occurred follows:

Take special note of the second to the last Tweet where Trump derides London Mayor Sadiq Khan, taking the Mayor’s original quote completely out of context, where he actually said:

“Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. No reason to be alarmed.”

What does the president think he’ll gain by remarking in that fashion? Why did he say it in the first place? Here are a few guesses:

  • Sadiq Khan is the first Muslim mayor of London. Perhaps yet another dog whistle remark on behalf of the president to infer a soft approach to terrorism?
  • It was late, and Trump spent 4 and a half hours on the golf course on Saturday. Perhaps the sun got to him?
  • We can’t rule out the fact that, at his age, his impulse control is at a minimum.

Either way, his comments do nothing to promote a positive image of our nation to the rest of the world. Can someone please take away his mobile device?
